Lakes Construction builds extensions and eco extensions, garden rooms, new homes, jetties and commercial buildings across the Lake District, with planning and architectural drawings to get them approved – built in the slate, stone and timber the area is made of.
Our eco extensions and upgrades are insulated, airtight and built in local slate, stone and timber, designed to keep your home comfortable and your energy bills down.

Lakes Construction is a joinery and building contractor based in Windermere, taking on extensions, eco extensions, garden rooms, new builds, jetties and commercial work across the Lake District.
Building here is not like building anywhere else in England. Almost everything we work on is inside the National Park, where planning is closely controlled and the materials matter – Lakeland slate, local stone, roughcast and limewash – and where the weather tests every joint. We plan for both from the first visit, and handle the drawings and the planning application as well as the build.
Single and two-storey extensions in stone, slate and glass, built to sit naturally against a Lakeland house.
Low-energy extensions with high insulation, airtightness and glazing placed for the light, not the heat loss.
Insulated garden offices, studios and rooms for guests, clad in cedar or larch and built on a proper base.
New homes, replacement dwellings, garages and outbuildings, from groundworks to the finished building.
Measured surveys, plans, elevations and 3D drawings, and the planning application that goes with them.
Timber jetties, landing stages and lakeshore decking, built for water levels that rise and fall.
Steel-framed buildings, workshops, hospitality and holiday-let work for Lake District businesses.
Careful barn conversions, character homes, holiday lets and studios for Lake District landowners.
Practical agricultural buildings, livestock sheds, stables and storage for Lake District farmers.
Extensions, bedrooms, restaurants, spa facilities and refurbishments for Lake District hoteliers.
